A word of Thanks

Nobody is an island

The reality is, that although getting this adventure to happen took a great deal of planning and effort on our part, it never could have happened at all if we weren't surrounded by a world of support and encouragement.

We have been fortunate to be surrounded by dozens of friends who have been supportive and encouraging from the very beginning. Without that, we may well have given up before we started. We have also been the beneficiaries of parents and family who, at times nervous, have nonetheless always been there to support us in our endeavors.

As we are not independently wealthy, we also have our jobs to thank. In Logan's case this means a number of people at St. Mary's and Intermountain. In particular, there is an unpayable debt to my partners Seth and Belk who are shouldering the lion's share of the burden of my time away and have done so with an encouraging and cheerful spirit. The many others deserving of thanks include our extraordinary office manager Amber, as well as Joya, Justin, Ben, Bryan, Michelle, Carol, and Lee. All of these folks could have taken the easy road and just told me no, but instead looked for ways to help me reach my goals. And thanks also to my colleague Marie who spent years telling me to "write something."

Carol appreciates (and misses) the supportive and collaborative network of veterinary hospitals in Grand Junction.  Although this trip is a wonderful opportunity, she is looking forward to once more working alongside these wonderful veterinarians, technicians, and support staff upon her return.

Finally, we would be remis if we failed to thank our children Neil and Tim. It's hard enough being a kid, and harder still when your parents are crazy - but crazy parents build character. We know it would have been easier for the both of you to have stayed in your comfortable bubbles. We owe the both of you a debt of gratitude for having trusted us enough to give this trip a chance. You will eventually thank us (probably).
